METRO presents brisa de vilanos, a journey through David Catá´s most recent work (Viveiro,1988). A beautiful exhibition that includes a careful selection of photographs and paintings impregnated with that singular poetic that envelops the symbolic universe of this genuine and multifaceted artist. 

 

For David Catá, the work of art is a container of memory and time, two concepts that constitute the theoretical parameters on which his work is based throughout his career, a means of capturing everything that fades with the passage of one´s life and yet shapes us as people. This exhibition shows us a piece of the inner life of a total artist who makes use of the means best suited to each occasion, sometimes combining them. Painting, photography, sculpture, music or performance are shown as mirrors that reflect, in all their splendour, his concerns and his vital yearnings.

 

 

Brisa de vilanos is a stage in his journey, an instant, a stop to reflect on the impact of the passage of time on our memory and our existence. And he does so through pieces that are as delicate as powerful, as poetic as narrative, inviting us to enter his inner world and become participants in the experiences that shape him as a person. It makes us participate in a visual game, proposing elvilano (dandelion) as a metaphor of the fleeting and fragile passage of time, of a time that takes flight from our hands and travels to the sound of the wind towards distant horizons, thus involving us in the existential confrontation of the flow of everyday life and the uncertainty of an unknown future. 

 

In order to articulate this discourse, Catá develops a delicate set created from idyllic horizons and landscapes, endowed with a romantic and sensual character, which play with the swaying of movement, where the vilanos dance in the air to the sound of the breeze, to the beat of the music, inaudible here, but always present in his life and work, towards unsuspected places.

 

In spite of his young age, David Catá is one of the Galician artists of reference, with an extensive trajectory of exhibitions, actions, prizes and presence in recognized public and private collections, which project him strongly towards the national and international market.
